Your tasks
As a summer intern in traffic planning, you will be offered a developing and varied job where your work contributes to a good planning basis for improvement measures in Linköping's traffic system.
The work involves both outdoor inventories, data collection, and simpler analysis using geographic information systems (GIS) as well as report writing.
The assignment includes;
- Inventory of cycling infrastructure and identifying the need for simpler measures including compilation and reporting.
- Analysis of traffic accidents including compilation and reporting.
We are looking for two summer interns who will largely carry out the work together, although parts of the work will also be done individually.
Your workplace
The Urban Environment Department maintains and develops attractive, functional, and accessible public spaces, such as squares, parks, and streets, in Linköping Municipality.
At the Urban Environment Department, you belong to the Urban Environment Development unit, which works with the development and planning of municipal public spaces. The unit includes traffic planners, landscape architects, and municipal ecologists. The unit is the client for investment projects, which are carried out by the administration's project organization.
As a summer intern focusing on traffic planning, you will belong to the Infrastructure group, which consists of 8 traffic planners. The group works to create a functional, accessible, and safe physical traffic environment in connection with the planning and construction of the municipality's pedestrian and bicycle paths, streets, and roads.
The administration is located in a newly built, activity-based office in Ebbepark.
You who are applying
It is a requirement that you are a university student in “communication, transport and society”, “road and water” or urban planning, or another relevant university education. We also expect you to have knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) for data collection and simpler analysis.
In the work, you will produce reports in Swedish, so you need to be proficient in the Swedish language.
You have good collaboration skills and listen to your colleagues you meet in your assignment. You are organized and can structure your work.
